The Southern Company and The Gross Law Firm notifies investors that a class action has commenced in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased, acquired, or otherwise held or sold, the publicly traded securities of The Southern Company (NYSE: SO) between May 10, 2013 and February 20, 2020, inclusive.
The filed complaint alleges that Deloitte & Touche, LLP made false and/or materially misleading statements in connection with its audit of The Southern Company’s financial statements and, in particular, its “clean coal” electric power plant in Kemper, Mississippi. Between May 10, 2013 and February 20, 2020 (the “Class Period”), Deloitte intentionally and recklessly violated its professional responsibilities as Southern’s professional auditor and deceived investors about Southern’s accounting for and expected completion of the Kemper Plant. Deloitte’s untrue statements and omissions of material facts concerning the Kemper Plant operated as a fraud and deceit upon plaintiff and others similarly situated in connection with their purchases and value of Southern securities during the Class Period.

If you wish to choose counsel to represent you and the class, you must apply to be appointed lead plaintiff and be selected by the Court. The lead plaintiff will direct the litigation and participate in important decisions including whether to accept a settlement for the class in the action. The lead plaintiff will be selected from among applicants claiming the largest loss from investment in the respective securities during the class periods. Members of the class will be represented by the lead plaintiff and counsel chosen by the lead plaintiff. No class has yet been certified in the above action. Appointment as Lead Plaintiff is not required to partake in any recovery.
Shareholders have until April 25, 2022 to request that the court appoint them lead plaintiff.
